I came to Syracuse in 2008 from New Paltz to work with at-risk youth on the North Side. I had to ride buses, and I had to make transfers, so I was out in the cold a lot. In this haiku, I wanted to give people a feeling of what itís like to stand outside in the wind and cold.

I donít usually write haiku. Many of my poems have to do with nature and the seasons. I often tie in peopleís lives with nature, many times looking at how human beings react to the circumstances they have

Snow piles high and soft
wind blows the sun through my bones:
